Five years ago, I purchased my first home and (to save on costs) determined to maintain my lawn. It wasn’t long before I realized that I knew very little about keeping a yard green and weed-free. I hired a local lawn care provider to provide lawn mowing and fertilization/weed control services. To be honest, I was pleased with the mowing service but was unimpressed with the fertilization and weed control. While there was a reduction in the weed population, I did not get the feeling like my weeds were under control.

Last summer, I made the switch to Weed Xtinguishers. They base their fertilization and weed control program under the Texas A&M Department of Agriculture guidelines. They use commercial grade products and are accountable to the State of Texas. Along with a satisfaction guarantee, I felt like it was “worth a shot.”

North Texas experienced a mild winter this year. I, therefore, expected my lawn to come out of dormancy sooner than in previous years. At the beginning of March, I noticed that other lawns were greening up. Concerned that there was a problem, I contacted my friends at Weed Xtinguishers. They explained to me the varied reasons for the delay and encouraged me to give it a few more weeks. They also invited me to compare my lawn to my neighbor’s yard. The result was eye-opening.

Weed XtinguishersI took this photo on March 9. The left side is my neighbor’s lawn; the right side is mine. As you can see, their lawn was much greener than mine. Looking closer, I noticed that their lawn was covered in weeds!

Ten days later, I took more photos of my yard. In my opinion, the grass is coming in thicker, greener, and more uniformed than ever before.

I am personally blown away by the difference that ten days have made with my lawn. At the beginning of the month, I was worried that my grass was dead. As it turns out, my grass was just starting to come alive.
